There’s a new bobble head in town…doubt he’ll be welcomed.

One of my favorite Christmas traditions growing up was listening to the cassette tape of The Perry Como Christmas Album as we unwrapped gifts Christmas morning. The tape is so old and worn that we have to fast forward and rewind a few times in order to get it to play. Last year, I wasn’t able to go home for either holiday, a first for me. But while Billy and I were shopping, I found the album of the exact Perry Como tape for $1 and I was extremely comforted that I’d have it for that Christmas and many more no matter where I was.

The recipe on the right, of course…

A rare cute photo of me as a kid. Didn’t expect the blondeness, did you?

It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything on Tumblr. On anything that really involves a time commitment really. Part of the problem is my phone also acts as a work phone so most of the time, Tumblr is logged in as work and I don’t want to go through the hassle of signing out and in. But the other part is that I don’t have the patience or, more accurately, headspace.

When your job is wrapped up in social media, there’s a part of you that just doesn’t want to touch it when you get home. For my husband, he certainly doesn’t want me on my phone all the time so I try to be fair and play nice. So things like Tumblr have suffered quite a bit. And I really love Tumblr (especially since we’re doing so much fun things with it at work).

What I’m really trying to get at through the small amount of complaining is that I’ll try better when it comes to Tumblr because I want to post. I mean, I REALLY want to post. I just have to work at it.

The America I love still exists at the front desks of our public libraries.
Kurt Vonnegut

It’s you I like,
It’s not the things you wear,
It’s not the way you do your hair—
But it’s you I like.
The way you are right now,
The way down deep inside you—
Not the things that hide you,
Not your toys—
They’re just beside you.

But it’s you I like—
Every part of you,
Your skin, your eyes, your feelings
Whether old or new.
I hope that you’ll remember
Even when you’re feeling blue
That it’s you I like,
It’s you yourself,
It’s you, it’s you I like.

This song was written by Fred Rogers and Billy and I used it as a wedding reading. I love it so much.

As I go through Pinterest and help my co-worker plan her wedding, I’m reminded of my own wedding and the small touches that we did to really make it ours.

I’ve had this disc for years. It’s helpful for getting the ‘Sanford & Son’ theme song stuck in my head. (Taken with instagram)

I’ll miss you Steve.
